Tegrity is moving to the Cloud!

Tegrity

On July 1, 2015, Tegrity will be moving to the Cloud!

If you haven’t heard already Tegrity will now be hosted in the cloud environment as opposed to being hosted on campus. This move should be very transparent to the user. All of the recordings that are currently in our hosted environment will be in the cloud environment. In order for this to occur, Tegrity will be unavailable starting at 1am on July 1st and will be unavailable until 8am.

What will be different is the use of Tegrity on Mobile devices. You will need to generate a new Connection Code on or after July 1st in order to view the recording on your mobile device. Please use this link to help you with how to generate a connection code: https://help.tegrity.com/how-to-find-your-connection-code.html.

Keeping Ferris Data Secure

The University is currently in the process of developing data classification and data handling policies and procedures, along with rolling out new technology to make our data more secure.
Please do not store Ferris Confidential or Restricted data in the “cloud” (OneDrive, Drop Box, Google Docs, etc.), on your computer’s hard drive, or on removable
media. To store Confidential and Restricted data, Ferris provides locations such as your H: and J: drives. Please help keep Ferris data secure by storing it appropriately.

OneDrive Now Has 1 TB of Space!

Microsoft Office 365 logo
Microsoft has now increased all Office 365 OneDrive storage space to 1 TB (terabyte). This does not affect your mailbox space; just your file storage “in the cloud.”
In a post on the OneDrive Blog, Microsoft explained the move to
provide more storage. “With OneDrive, we want to give you one place for all of your stuff: your photos, videos, documents, and other files. Of course, to do this, we need to make sure you actually have enough storage space for everything, particularly given that the amount of content everyone has is growing by leaps and bounds.”
OneDrive is a great place to save all your university files except those that contain confidential information as it is on the Internet and not a completely secure location.
For more information on our OneDrive and how to use it click HERE.

If you need additional assistance please contact TAC at (231) 591-4822. Press 2 at the first prompt and 1 at the second prompt to talk to the Office 365 specialists.

What is iCloud?

Apple has recently released their new operating system which is called Lion. You may have heard the term “cloud” in some of the new commercials from computer companies, but what is it?

Simply put, the term “Cloud” means instead of storing your information on the device , it is transferred to a server and is available on any device that has Internet connectivity.  Apple’s approach to the “cloud” is a service they call “iCloud”.  With this, you can share all of your media between all of your Apple devices such as iPad, iPhone, iPod and your Mac computer.  For example, if you have an iPhone and took a picture while you were out, within seconds that picture will be immediately accessible from your home computer and any other Apple devices that you may have because it is stored on Apple’s company servers rather than on your phone. The hassle of synching your media with all your devices is now a thing of the past because of the “cloud”.
