Connecting the Kindle Fire to Wireless

Having trouble connecting a Kindle Fire to wireless at Ferris? Here are some steps you can take to get connected after the device is turned on.

1. Click on the gear wheel icon in the upper right hand corner of the screen.

2. Select Wi-Fi.

3. Select a FSUNet or FSUNetI access point from the list of available networks.

4. Select Connect.

5. Close out of the Wi-Fi settings window.

6. Select Web from the home page.

7. Try to go to a web site.

8. The wireless authentication page should appear. If it doesn’t type in the following: fsuccas2.ferris.edu/auth/perfigo_cm_validate.jsp and select Go.

9. Type in your MyFSU user ID and password. Select Continue.

10. If an Allow Popup? window appears, select Allow.

You are now connected to the Ferris wireless network. To disconnect, go back to the Network Authentication tab and log out.

Please note that this process will not work in the residence halls at this time.

Ferris Wireless Guest Account

Wireless access at Ferris is available to guests visiting campus for a short period of time. Guest access to the wireless network is not meant for use by employees or students of the university. They should use their MyFSU ID and password to authenticate to the wireless network.

The wireless guest account password is periodically changed by ITS personnel. If a guest requires temporary access to the wireless network, call the TAC at 231-591-4822 to request access.

Tegrity System Upgraded

On December 19th, the vendor who runs the Tegrity server for us updated the software.  One of the main changes you may have noticed is that the Tegrity icon in the system tray was not working and you had to go through FerrisConnect to get into Tegrity. As of January 13, 2012, this issue has been resolved. You are now able to log in to Tegrity to start a recording using the system tray icon.

As a reminder, Internet Explorer (7 or 8) and Safari are the preferred browsers to use with Tegrity.  Firefox is not recommended, as it requires a special add-on to be installed.

If you need more information, please feel free to contact the TAC, at 231-591-4822 or toll-free at 877-779-4822.
